Flaxseed oil for “oiling the joints”
Finding out about the benefits of Flaxseed Oil
One of the great things about selling at a lot of farmers’ markets is you learn so much from your customers. I used to sell flaxseed (linseed) products every weekend at markets, one day I was discussing our products with a customer who told me and the other customers at there that Flaxseed Oil was wonderful and it “oiled” her achy joints. As a scientist, I felt I should explain that wasn’t how it worked but she argued that was how good it felt and that was why she carried on taking it. Perhaps it’s a better explanation than “omega-3 fatty acids inhibit an enzyme called cyclooxygenase (COX), which produces the prostaglandin hormones that spark inflammation”…. Nowadays I agree, flaxseed oil, oils the joints when they get a bit creaky and have had two dogs in their teens in recent years I can see it works for older dogs too.
